On May 18, Dr. Garry Nolan participated in a ground-breaking interview with Alex Klokus during the SALT New York Conference, revealing new information about the reverse engineering programs of crafts allegedly of extraterrestrial origin in the United States.

The SALT conference, known for hosting discussions on technology and innovation, featured a conversation between Dr. Garry Nolan and Alex Klokus from Kyber Capital. The topic of their talk was Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. During the 18-minute interview, Dr. Nolan shared new information about ongoing efforts to challenge the stigma surrounding this subject in the United States.

The Scientist

Dr. Garry Nolan is a respected professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford, specializing in cancer immunology and virology. He has researched diseases such as Ebola, Zika, and COVID-19 when they posed biothreats. Dr. Nolan has developed advanced laboratory instruments to enhance his cancer research and has also founded companies based on his innovative technologies.

Alex Klokus opened the interview by asking if he believed extraterrestrial intelligence had visited Earth. Dr. Nolan responded,

“I think you can go a step further. It hasn't just visited, it's been here a long time. And it's still here. And it has a basically, you know, people talk about the WOW signal, looking for extraterrestrial intelligence, the WOW signal is that people see it on an almost regular basis. That's the communication that's already here.”

While several prominent political figures in the United States, including former presidents Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and former Directors of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe and James Clapper, as well as the current DNI Avril Haines, have openly discussed Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), it is uncommon for a scientist of Dr. Garry Nolan's stature to do the same.  In the scientific community, reputation and institutional affiliations significantly impact a researcher's career. The more renowned a scientist becomes, the higher the stakes in terms of risks taken and exploration of new research avenues. Therefore, Dr. Garry Nolan's decision to openly discuss UAP directly is a significant breakthrough.

The Military

When questioned about his level of confidence in his statements, Dr. Nolan confidently responded with  “100%”. Explaining why, he continued:

“The National Defence Appropriation Act, passed last year, signed by Biden in December. 30 pages of that is the establishment of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon office, the establishment of looking into the harm that's happened to a number of individuals going back to 1945.”

In this context, Dr. Garry Nolan likely alludes to the ongoing struggle between congressional members and factions within the U.S. Department of Defense who have long sought to impede or obstruct the establishment of an official office for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) in the DoD. This obstruction hinders injured military personnel from receiving timely treatment when exposed to radiation during duty near a UAP.

One could think of the case of John Burroughs, a U.S. Air Force military policeman stationed at the Royal Air Force Bentwaters, who suffered from significant radiation exposure. Only when the late Senator John McCain, himself a veteran and political giant, stepped up, was Burroughs granted 'full medical disability' by the Department of Veteran Affairs, even though  his medical records remain classified.

Dr. Nolan also shared an incident in which he was close to gaining access to one of these objects but faced administrative obstacles that prevented it from happening :

“  I literally got within a few weeks of gaining access to one of the objects. And when the people who didn't want us to gain access to it found out about it, they pulled some bureaucratic administrative tricks, and snatched it away.”

The Congress and The Crafts

Talking about the current struggle against parts of the U.S. administration, Nolan continued:

“And looking at the disinformation and misinformation that has been basically articulated over the decades, 12 US senators have signed on to a document that basically says, “we want the information, the establishment of an office. AARO, in the Department of Defence, has 25 People working in it right now.”

Dated February 16, 2023, the letter addressed to Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks and Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Stacey Dixon and signed by 16 U.S. Senators requests:

“assistance in securing the necessary funding and organizational support for AARO’s success and longevity. While we recognize there was an Administration request for funds in Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) to fund basic operating expenses for AARO, it is facing a funding shortfall that will impede its ability to fulfil its mission"

In carefully chosen words, the Senate reminded the Department of Defense of its responsibilities towards the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), and, interestingly, this matter was discussed during the open hearings with AARO's director, Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, where he stated that he was still reporting to the United States Department of Intelligence and Surveillance (USDI&S), despite the newly implemented law that mandates his reporting to the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Nolan then continued and opened Pandora’s Box, stating that one of the missions of AARO was:

“the creation of a whistleblowers program specifically, that allows people from within [...] who've been working on the reverse engineering programs, reverse engineering of objects, so that they can come in and break their oaths, but it's specifically just to talk to Congress and give that information in classified settings.”

He then insisted:

“The most recent one that happened was just last weekend, and it created quite a hornet's nest in Washington.”

If mentions of alleged reverse-engineering programs are nothing new in the UAP field, dating almost as far back as the modern era itself, and publicly stated in the New York Times by Dr Eric Davis regarding specific programs about alleged crashed extraterrestrial crafts, it is extremely rare to have a scientist with Dr Nolan’s stature to claim so publicly. It’s even rarer when they declare that current classified briefings are happening in the U.S. Congress on that very topic.

A few moments later, when asked what made him so sure, he answered: “My experience with people who, frankly, I know have worked, or are working on the reverse engineering programmes”, by doing so he further indicated that not only have past programs existed, but he also emphasized that ongoing programs remain active to this day."

Asked where his interest was coming from, he later explained that :

“if we had a piece of any of this, let's say it's 1000 revolutions ahead of us, or a million revolutions ahead of us, even a tiny piece of knowledge from that could revolutionise what it is that we're doing. I'm always looking for the opportunity and looking at the upside of this. I'm not worried about them coming and, you know, raping us or taking our women and children. That's not my concern. My concern is how do we use it?”

Once asked what was his hypothesis regarding the origin of such craft, he pondered for a moment and explained:

“I think it is an advanced form of intelligence, something that we don't understand. That is using some kind of intermediaries. [...] I think of it as an intelligence test. Can you see what's in front of you? For what it really is? Can you see the anomalous data point?

Finally asked about how to accelerate research on UAP, Dr Nolan explained:

“you need to bring together the right set of, basically, frankly, anthropologists and sociologists, how do we talk about the fact that we're not at the top of the intellectual food chain?”

That’s the question, indeed.
