Belgisch UFO-meldpunt has been collecting UFO reports from the Flemish part of Belgium since 2007.

Last year, the Belgian UFO hotline received 223 reports. This is a slight increase compared with 2022, when 217 sightings reached the hotline.

In about 17% of the reports, there was too little information or the witness did not cooperate with the Investigation and it was not possible to give an evaluation for those cases. An investigation is still ongoing about an interesting sighting, which took place on September 9th in Wetteren.

The months of September and October were busier than normal. October saw the highest number of sightings caused by Starlink satellites.

Monthly distribution of 2023 reports in Belgium Flemish provinces

A fair number of UFO reports in 2023 were caused by spotlights / skytracers (23 cases), despite the fact that they are now banned by VLAREM II environmental legislation.

We also saw a significant increase in reports of stars and planets, if compared to 2022.

Most UFOs were sighted in the province of Antwerp (61 observations), and 6 reports came from abroad (Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy).
